  • Reggaeton can be traced to a musical riddim that originated in Jamaican reggae. In the 1980’s, a Panamanian artist, El General, added spanish rap over these rhythms, creating a new genre known as, “reggae en espanol”. This sound caught fire in Puerto Rico, where more musical genres were added into the mix. Reggaeton was the new sound coming out of the late 90s and continues to grow in influence around the world. The dance is a sensual mix of Latin, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Caribbean styles. Originally a social street dance it is now more popularly danced without a partner. From Daddy Yankee to Bad Bunny, Reggaeton is a repsresentation and celebration of latino culture, joy and uplifts communities worldwide.

  • SHUFFLE DANCE is a rave dance done to electronic music, that developed in the 1980’s in Melbourne Australia. The dance moves involve a fast heel and toe movement, combined with a variation of Hip Hop’s “running man”, along with shuffling the feet inwards and outwards, matching arm movements, to the beat of the music. Essentially a freestyle club/rave style, Shuffle’s influences include Hip Hop, House, Rave dance, and Jazz dance. While Melbourne shuffle was growing, the UK was developing a sub genre, referred to as “cutting shapes”, which is largely different in style, technique, and history.
